Generations Together is an international center for intergenerational studies at the University of Pittsburgh. It furthers program development, education and training, research, and dissemination, and technical support that helps professionals acquire the knowledge, understanding, and skills to integrate intergenerational components into their work. Furthermore, it supports university / community collaboration and public policy initiatives that result in effective intergenerational partnership that positively impact children, youth and older persons in our communities.
Distinguishing Features of Generations Together´s Activities:
- Develops innovative intergenerational program models
- Evaluates local, regional, and national intergenerational programs
- Creates and teaches a multidisciplinary graduate/undergraduate course on intergenerational issues
- Provides training and technical assistance for professionals at all levels of career development who want to develop, replicate, or evaluate intergenerational model
- Trains and certifies professionals to become intergenerational specialists
- Conducts research on issues of intergenerational significance
- Authors, publishes, and disseminates print an media materials in support of intergenerational principles
- Maintains a resource library of print and media materials that serves an international community of individuals and organizations interested in intergenerational topics
- Advocates public and social policy, locally and nationally, on intergenerational concerns
