Black Papers
Black Papers on African American Health

Below are three final "Black Papers" written by the University of Pittsburgh for the Urban League of Pittsburgh. These papers analyze current health conditions and problems of African Americans in Allegheny County and suggest some local policies and programs for improving conditions and alleviating problems. Many individuals and organizations helped to develop these papers; see the list of advisory committee members at the beginning of each paper. The papers were funded by the Birmingham Foundation, Jewish Healthcare Foundation, UPMC Department of Community Initiatives, and the University of Pittsburgh.

We received many helpful comments on the earlier draft papers and have incorporated suggestions in the papers as much as possible. Additional comments can be submitted to Ralph Bangs, PhD, Research Associate at the University Center for Social and Urban Research, University of Pittsburgh.
